The PTO organizes and administers a Room Parent program for each elementary school. The PTO Vice President at each school coordinates that building’s Room Parent program, which includes classroom parties and staff appreciation. The Middle schools do not have classroom parties, but do need volunteers to chaperone dances and other events and help with the staff appreciation activities at their school.

How it Works:

In the Elementary schools, Room Parents plan and supervise a Halloween party and Valentine’s Day party (Lincoln and John Powers also do a Winter Party). The Halloween and Valentines parties are approximately forty-five minutes to one hour long and consist of games and activities.

Dates:

Room party dates for the 2025-2026 school year are as follows:

  • Halloween Party: Friday, October 30, 2026
  • Winter Party (Lincoln and John Powers only): Friday, December 18, 2026
  • Valentine’s Day Party: Wednesday, February 10, 2026 (due to P/T conferences on the 11th and 12th)

For information about being an Elementary School Room Parent or a Middle School Volunteer contact the PTO Vice President of your child’s school, as listed on the Hawthorn PTO home page.
